With less money, less opportunity, fewer jobs, people became desperate.

 

With the relentless race to lower prices, wages were lowered, and jobs were replaced by robots.

 

At the Australian mines the big trucks are now driven by radio control. A few women in a central office watch these trucks via remote video, and can press a stop button if something happens out of the ordinary.

Most affluent countries outsourced their dangerous and dirty labour to third world countries. These poor countries were least likely to have safe working places or to pollute less.

At some factories in the east, nets were attached to the factory roofs to catch people when they try to commit suicide.

The worst off are the children. With poor health and no education, they will never have a future.
